Family Office Services
Working with the people who already advise a family, rather than around them.
A family office is not an individual buyer with more money. There is usually a mandate, a governance process, an existing set of advisers and a horizon measured in generations rather than years. Advice that ignores any of those is not much use.
We work with family offices, funds, syndicates, club deals and institutional investors on individual assets, portfolios and strategic mandates.
What our role can include
- Sourcing against a defined mandate rather than presenting whatever is available
- Investment analysis and comparison between competing opportunities
- Negotiation and transaction management through to completion
- Ongoing portfolio review: concentration, income, liquidity and exit
- Co-ordination with the family's existing legal, tax and financing advisers
Reporting and discretion
We are used to working to someone else's process. Where a committee needs a paper, we write one. Where a transaction must be handled without public marketing, it is. Information is shared only as far as the mandate requires.
Structure
Where a transaction is to be held through an SPV, a fund, a joint venture or a co-investment vehicle, the legal, regulatory and governance structure should be established by appropriately qualified advisers. We can assist with the property, the analysis, the negotiation and the execution, and work alongside whoever puts that structure in place.
